IN OUR HOLY SCRIPTURE, SHRI MADBHAGWAD GITA, LORD KRISHNA HAD DESCRIBED THREE TYPES OF FOOD, SATVIK, RAJAS, AND TAMAS. AS A MATTER OF FACT, OUR TENDENCIES, ARE GOVERENED BY TYPE OF FOOD IS ONE WHICH IS CLOSE TO THE NATURE AND NORMALLY IS IN ITS PURE OR ORIGINAL FORM. SUCH FOOD IS EASY TO DIGEST AND IMPARTS ENERGY, VITAMINS AND ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS REQUIRED FOR BODY. MILK, CURD, FRUITS, SALAD, VEGETABLES FALL UNDER THIS CATEGORY. THERE IS SHORTEST PERIOD BETWEEN TAKING FOOD TO EXCRETION IN CASE OF SATVIK FOOD, WHEREAS IN CASE OF RAJAS AND TAMAS FOOD THIS TIME PERIOD IS LONGER AND THEREFORE PRONE TO GENERATE TOXICS.

RAJAS FOOD IS ONE WHICH IS IN MODIFIED OR COVERTED FROM LIKE DEEP DRIED SPICY ITEMS, SWEETS, PICKLES, NOODLES, PULAV, CHAAT, PAKODI ETC. THESE ITEMS ARE MORE OF TASTY, BUT TAKE MORE TIME AND ENERGY TO DIGEST, HENCE ADVISABLE TO TAKE IN LIMITED QUANTITY ONLY. NORMALLY WE TAKE THIS TYPE OF FOOD IN FESTIVALS, PARTY AND OTHER FUNCTIONS. MY ADVICE IS THAT WE SHOULD REDUCE THE QUANTITY OF SUCH FOOD INTAKE, IF WE ARE GOING TO PARTY OR OTHER FUNCTION. THIS MAY SOLVE THE PROBLEM TO LITTLE EXTENT. WE SHOULD PREFER LIQUID ITEMS LIKE FRUIT JUICE, SWEET MILK, SOUP ETC. IN LITTLE HIGHER QUANTITY. THERE IS NO HARM IN TAKING ICE CREAM, IF YOU DO NOT CATCH COLD. IT IS NOT GOOD PRACTICE TO INSIST FOR MORE FOOD JUST TO EXPRESS OUR LOVE OR AFFECTION FOR OUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES, THERE ARE MANY BETTER WAYS TO DO DO. PARTIES ARE MOSTLY IN NIGHT HOURS AND IT IS REALLY NOT ADVISABLE TO EAT MORE IN LATE NIGHT HOURS.

TAMAS FOOD IS MAILY NON VEGETARIAN OR THAT WHICH EITHER HALF COOKED NOT COOKED PROPERLY. THOSE TYPE OF FOOD WHICH EATEN WITHOUT THINKING THAT IT GOOD OR BAD FOR OUT HEALTH, MAY BE DUE TO LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OR PURPOSELY, FALLS UNDER THIS CATEGORY. ALCOHOL ALSO IS SUCH TYPE OF TAMAS FOOD WHERE WE KEEP ON TAKING IN SPITE OR KNOWING OR CARING ABOUT ITS DISADVANTAGES OR HAMFULNESS. REGARDING NON VEGETARIAN FOOD, WE MUST REMEMBER THAT HUMAN BODY, ESPECIALLY TEETH AND INTESTINE, ARE DESIGNED FOR VEGETARIAN FOOD ONLY. THOSE ANIMALS THAT EAT VEGETARIAN FOODS HAVE TEETH TO CHEW SO THAT FOOD IS PROPERLY MIXED WITH SALIVA MAKING IT MORE DIGESTIBLE WHEREAS THOSE ANIMALS, WHOSE BODY IS FIT FOR EATING MEAT AND NON VEGETARIAN FOOD, HAVE TEETH TO TEAR THE FLESH. AFTER TEARING THE FLESH THESE ANIMALS TAKE FLESH DIRECTLY TO INTESTINE WHERE LIQUID MUCH MORE STRONG THAN SALIVA HELPS DIGESTING THE SAME. HUMAN FOOD PIPE IS VERY MUCH DIFFERENT . IT IS HAS MANY CURVES, FIRST FOOD IS TRANSPORTED TO STOMACH, THEN AFTER SO MANY CURVES PATHS, IT REACHES INTESTINE (LONG AND SMALL) AND ULTIMATELY IT GETS DIGESTED. IF WE TAKE NON VEGERARIAN FOOD, IT IS MORE DIFFICULT TO DIGEST AND TAKES LONGER DURATION. ANY FOOD WHICH LIES IN BODY FOR LONGER DURATION GENERATES JUNK OR POISONOUS PROPERTIES. SAME THING HAPPENS IF WE TAKE FOOD MORE THAN REQUIRED QUANTITY. THESE JUNKS AND TOXICS ARE MAIN CAUSES FOR MALFUNCTIONING OF LEVER AND OTHER PARTS RESPONSIBLE FOR DIGESTION. THIS IS THE VERY REASON WHY MEAT, PORK OR BEEF IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD FOR HUMAN BODY.
TIMING OF FOOD💫
CONSISTENCY IN TIMING OF BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER IS VERY GOOD AND BODY GETS ACCUSTOMED WITH THIS, IF WE FOLLOW THE TIMINGS, WHICH ARE NOT VERY FLEXIBLE. WHENEVER WE FEEL APPETITE, IT IS NOT ONLY WANT OF NEW FOOD TO DIGEST, BUT IS MATTER OF PRACTICE ALSO. IF WE MAKE A REGULAR HABIT TO EAT SIX TIMES A DAY, OUR BODY ADOPS THE SAME. WE CAN HAVE OF TAKING FOOD THRICE A DAY ONLY. RATHER IT CAN BE ONCE OR TWICE A DAY. OUR BODY WILL START RESPONDING ACCORDINGLY. THUS WE HAVE TO DECIDE AS TO WHAT IS THE FREQUENCY AND TIMING (AND OF COURSE QUANTITY) OF MEALS DEPENDING ON OUR NATURE OF WORK, HABIT AND LIFESTYLE WE WANT TO LEAD. THE BASIS IDEA BEHIND THIS IS THAT WE NEED TO EAT FOR LIVING AND NOT LIVING JUST TO EAT. WHATEVER DISH YOU LIKE MOST, SHOULD BE TAKEN IN LESS QUANTITY WITH BETTER TASTE, SO THAT ITS CHARM IS MAINTAINED FOR LONGER DURATION. CONVERSELY SOME PEOPLE RUN BEHIND FAVORITE DISHES AND FILL STOMACH FROM THAT PARTICULAR DISH ONLY. WE MUST HAVE CONTROL ON OUR TONGUE AND YOGA AUTOMATICALLY TEACHES US TO HOW TO CONTROL ON DESIRES.
